Why EVs lose range in the cold
Cold weather attacks range through three mechanisms. First, the liquid electrolyte inside the battery becomes more viscous as temperatures drop, slowing lithium-ion movement and raising internal resistance — so less of the stored energy can be delivered at the wheels.
